The Western-hercegovenian canton is made up of the municipalities of;
Grude, Ljubuski, Posusje, and Siroki Brijeg and the heart of the district is in Siroki Brijeg. This canton spans over 1,363km of land and has a population of around 90,000 people. It extends over the south and southwestern part of Bosnia and Hercegovina through to the border of the Republic of Croatia. The most southern part is 15 air-lines away from the Adriatic Sea. It is a zone of a rugged relief. The most southern area, around the rivers of Trebizat and Studencice in the municipality of Ljubuski, is 30m above sea-level which then goes up to 2,228m above sea-level at the top of Cvrsnica, in the municipality of Posusje, which happens to be the highest peak in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Geographical latitude, the relief, the height above sea-level as well as the closeness to the
Adriatic sea all contribute to the basically favourable and diverse climate in a canton rich in natural beauty as well as many historical monuments which spread throughout the canton.
