
Urtijëi (German: St. Ulrich in Gröden; Italian: Ortisei) is a town of 4,500 inhabitants in the province of Bolzano-Bozen, in the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. It occupies the Val Gardena within the Dolomites, a mountain chain that is part of the Alps. Urtijëi borders the following municipalities: Kastelruth, Villnöß, Lajen and Santa Cristina Gherdëina.
Santa Cristina Gherdëina or Santa Crestina Gherdëina (German: St. Christina in Gröden, Italian: Santa Cristina Valgardena) is a Ladin comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 70 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 30 km east of the city of Bolzano.
Ski Val Gardena / Alpe di Siusi, one of four linked to the Sella Ronda tour, has the most trails throughout the Dolomites Superski complex - even 176 km! Take into account the possibility of skiing at nearby ski resorts of Alta Badia, Val di Fassa and Arabba / Marmolada which is linked to Val Gardena. The ski resort consists of two parts, Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusija, associated with one ski pass and bus links. Val Gardena is composed of three places: Selva, St Cristina and Ortisei, while Castelrotto, Siusi and Fie belong to the Alpe di Siusi.
The valley is officially trilingual so all names are listed in Ladino, German and Italian.
