The city Sibenik is the centre of the Sibenik – Knin County. It is an economically developed city full of culture as well as a great tourist destination.
Sibenik is located in a deep inlet and is one of the most naturally protected harbours on the Adriatic and is not far from the mouth of the river Krke.
Sibenik is a city full of cultural and historical monuments such as the cathedral of St. Jakov which was built in the 15th century, the town hall, the churches of St. Barbara and St. Fran as well as many town squares, palaces, fortresses and other churches which are spread throughout the city. The city´s patron saint is St. Mihovil and the fortress of St. Ana (St. Mihovil) is dedicated to him and overlooks the city and its surroundings.
The surrounding areas are known for their picturesque landscape and untouched nature, as well as the National parks of Kornati and Krka, also a well-known tourist destination.
Sibenik is turning more and more towards tourism as a way of life. Many of its beautiful villas are being renovated into luxurious apartments and rooms for visitors to enjoy. Other types of accommodation are the city´s many hotels, apartments and campsites.
